Colombo Sri Lanka is full of hotels, cafes, pubs and clubs; however because of this ample variety Colombo has to offer one might not know where to start, so we thought we’d break it down for you and give you a quick run down of where to go and what to do this Friday night.

Pub Scene

Let’s set the scene. The weekend is here and you’re in the mood to head out, so why not grab a drink? Love Bar down Horton Place offers a chilled out spot for just this situation. If you’ve been working on Friday and want to head out on Saturday, Sugar 41 gives you live music and good drinks. If you want something cheaper, Mintage on Kynsey Road is a good place to head to. Manchester on Thursdays has a brilliant three piece band you can also sing along to.

However if you’re  looking for a place with a cool ambiance, I’d suggest you shuffle over to Park Street Mews and grab a drink from The Curve. Park Street Mews, as the name may indicate is a street so the setup is on the street itself; if the thought of being cluttered into a tiny pub sounds a bit claustrophobic. On the same stretch lies Cafe Francais, which is technically a cafe that transforms after 10 into a bar!

Club Scene

Ever wondered what it would be like to be dancing on the ceiling? Well Colombo now offers you dancing in the Attic. This little spot right on top of the Love Bar in Horton Place,  and if you are checking in for the night, we have a property right on Longdon Place, which means you don’t need to drink and drive! If the dawn comes and you still want to dance until it’s almost time for breakfast RnB is a oldie but good choice!

The Morning After

If you’re a ‘have coffee at anytime of the day’ kind of person as I am or partied so hard that you need a coffee on your way home, it’s worth to take note that the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf down Horton place (also near the Attic!) is open 24/7. If you want a little more than coffee and kottu roti there’s also breakfast at Cinnamon Lakeside which gives you bacon and kiribath as a go to option, perfect for a morning after!

Did we run through most options? What is your go-to for this weekend?
