It may be bunch of friends from your childhood, school or work but when we girls get together we know how much we love to have fun. Sri Lanka is one of those diverse countries filled with tea plantations, wildlife, beaches and mountains and this means, there is no stopping us girls when we go on trips.
When travelling with your girlfriends there are few factors that ought to be taken into consideration and these include location, distance, weather and of course budget. Below are a few locations put together that would be ideal for a couple of girlfriends to travel together, be sure to list out your favourites in the comments below as well.
In the South
The South of Sri Lanka is an all time favourite place because it’s a short drive up to the beach (thank you expressway!) over a weekend for all you girls to have some quality time with great food, entertainment and not forgetting, the sunny beaches. Whether you want to just lie down on the beach and read a book or surf and get into some water sports, the beaches on southern coastal belt is nothing short of ideal. The cities of Hikkaduwa, Galle, Unawatuna and Mirissa are some locations that have a wide range of accommodation from luxury to budget stays.
In the Middle
Dambulla a town situated in the Central province just 148 km away from Colombo. If you and your girlfriends want to do bit of sightseeing and are willing to spend more than one night, Dambulla would be great location. When it comes to places of interest the town has quite a few to offer from including the Dambulla Cave Temple, Sigiriya rock fortress, Pidurangala rock and Minneriya National Park. The Nine Arches
Approximately 200 km away from Colombo at 1041m above sea level is the little town Ella. The town is in the middle of beautiful tea plantations and high mountains. For girls who want to have a relaxing holiday getaway, Ella would be excellent location and not to forget, grant you some Instagram-worthy pictures. The cool weather is great for long sleeps and some of the places of interest in Ella include Little Adam’s Peak, Ella Rock, Ravana falls, Nine Arches Bridge and Dhowa Rock.
