- Barista
If you ask around about the most famous coffee shops in the city Barista is a name you would often hear. Having been around for a while, they have now opened up several outlets in famous tourist destinations like Kandy, Unawatuna, Ella, and of course, the bustling city Colombo. While there are quite a number of outlets spread all over the city, we highly recommend you try their iconic Thummulla Outlet in Colombo 07, which is located in the Laksala premises – a great stop if you are looking to buy some souvenirs to take back home with you. The National Museum Outlet in Colombo 07 is also a great place to stop by after you have spent a day at the museum. Since they have quite an extensive menu, beverage prices start from Rs. 300 and go to about Rs. 680, and they are well complimented by an extensive choice of food and desserts as well.

Java Lounge is known for bringing world class coffee blends home to Sri Lanka so if you are looking for familiar taste to remind you of your daily coffee routine back home, you need to pay a visit over here. Apart from some of the finest blends of coffee they also serve up some amazing Italian classics like pasta and lasagne, and several sweet and savoury delights you can enjoy with a warm cup of coffee. You can find their main outlet down Jawatta Road which is actually just a short distance away from our featured guest house at Stubbs Place. Their famous coffee range is priced in the range of Rs. 380 – 580 and you can even place your orders online to enjoy super-fast delivery right to your doorstep.

- Hansa Café
Even avid tea drinkers are known to love the rich flavour of Hansa Coffee. And the Hansa café is one of the best places to stop by to enjoy the finest blends of local coffee grown in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. Here you can find anything from Espresso, Golden blend and Arabica products along with some of the finest chocolate drinks you could dream of enjoying. Once you have tasted their amazing blends you can even grab a pack or two to take back home with you. This unique café is located at 24, Fife Road, Colombo and has a more laid back setting compared to some of the other coffee shops that are packed with busy coffee drinkers, especially during rush hours. Though coffee is their main attraction you should also checkout their interesting toasts priced between Rs. 250 – 350.

While most of the big brand coffee shops are located in Colombo city limits, there are quite a few great coffee shops located in the suburbs as well. One such location is Charcoal. Great Sri Lankan blends of coffee and tea served together with delicious delights are not the only reasons why you should visit this café. There are also two art galleries on site and the place is almost always invigorated with the sound of great music to set the mood for a perfect evening out. So if you happen to be staying in our beach hotel in Mount Lavinia or pass by during your travels stop by this café located at 10 Siripala Road, Mt. Lavinia and enjoy a relaxing time in one of the most artistic hideouts in Colombo.
